Itsukushima Shrine was established in 593. It enshrines Ichikishimahime-no-mikoto, Tagorihime-no-mikoto and Tagorihime-no-mikoto. Taira no Kiyomori built the present shrine in 1168.

Please note that the corridors of Itsukushima Shrine have small spaces between the floorboards to alleviate pressure from the sea at high tide. Please wear comfortable shoes. High heels may get stuck in the spaces.

1. Combined tickets for both Itsukushima Shrine and the Treasure Hall can be obtained only at the entrance to Itsukushima Shrine.

2. For school trips, the admission fees for teachers, group photographers and nurses are the same as those for the students.

3. A group discount is applied to groups of 50 or more in the same age bracket.
